Before her tenure at Kaufman Hall, Christen was part of the Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital team. She held a managerial position for advanced practice providers in the Department of Pediatric Medicine and had a joint appointment with the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Her responsibilities encompassed administrative oversight and maintaining a clinical practice in the pediatric intensive care unit. Her administrative tasks included managing professional development, onboarding and engagement of advanced practice providers, ensuring optimal scope of practice.
A recognized leader in healthcare, Christen is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and a published author. She contributes her expertise on workforce trends that influence the future of the healthcare workforce.
Christen earned a doctor of nursing practice and a master of science in primary care nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. She also holds a post-master's certification as a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner from the University of Kentucky and dual certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
